David M. Donahue, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Education at Mills College in Oakland, California. His research interests include teacher learning generally and learning from the arts and service-learning specifically.
- Dr. Donahue works with teacher-credential students who are preparing to teach art, English and history in secondary schools and with graduate students investigating teaching and learning with a focus on equity in urban contexts
- He is co-editor of Artful Teaching: Integrating the Arts for Understanding Across the Curriculum, recently published by Teachers College Press, and co-author with Elaine Ikeda and Marie Sandy of a chapter in Campus Compact's Looking In, Reaching Out: A Reflective Guide for Community Service-Learning Professionals.
Elaine K. Ikeda, Ph.D. is the Executive Director of California Campus Compact, a coalition of California's leading colleges and universities that works to build the collective commitment and capacity of colleges, universities and communities to advance civic and community engagement for a healthy, just and democratic society.
- Prior to joining California Campus Compact in 2000, Dr. Ikeda served as the Director of the Higher Education National Service-Learning Clearinghouse Project.
- For the last 15 years, Dr. Ikeda has contributed to the production of research knowledge related to service-learning and has co-authored many journal articles and book chapters on service-learning and student development, including a chapter with David Donahue and Marie Sandy in Campus Compact's Looking In, Reaching Out: A Reflective Guide for Community Service-Learning Professionals and a chapter in Campus Compact's Service-Learning and the First-Year Experience.
