SPEAKER
Yolanda Norman is the Director of Residence Life and Conference Housing at The University of St. Thomas. Mrs. Norman has produced numerous articles and presentations related to her primary interests in first-generation student success, leadership training, student-athlete mentoring, student development, at-risk student success, and diversity in higher education.
- She is a member of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA)-College Student Educators International, Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators, and the Association of College and University Housing Officers International.
- Recently, Mrs. Norman was inducted into the 2010 Strathmore's Who's Who-for Outstanding Professionals.
- As a first-generation college graduate, Yolanda currently uses her professional knowledge and personal experiences to mentor students, faculty, and staff in creating college environments conducive to student success. She is also engaged in the UST Retention Committee project to create programs for low income, first generation, and minority student success.
- Outside of the college campus she mentors high school students in the Greater Houston area in hopes of giving them greater access to the university environment.
