SPEAKER
Varo L. Duffins is Associate Director of Financial Aid and formerly Associate Dean of Admission at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Varo has worked in higher education since 1995 in both the Admission and Financial Aid professions at two small, private liberal arts colleges.
- While in Admission, Varo's regional recruitment territories included the Mid-Atlantic states, the Mid-West, and California. He also read and reviewed applicants from and traveled to the Asian subcontinent of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Norway. Additionally, he headed Multicultural Student Recruitment, the Tour Guide program, and Electronic Communications.
- In Financial Aid, Varo is responsible for all aspects of counseling prospective and current students and parents in financial aid, packaging financial aid, appeals reviews, enrollment research, report writing, and training admission staff. As well he manages Franklin & Marshall College's Student Employment Program, the Financial Aid Website, and the implementation of the Net Price Calculator. Varo has given several presentations on financial aid in the context of enrollment management at several high schools and for private organizations.
- He holds a BA in Biology from the University of Delaware and an MS in Higher Education from Drexel University.
