SPEAKER
Robert Sena, Ph.D., ASLA, AICP as Director of Institutional Planning for Sasaki's San Francisco office, Robert brings 36 years of professional experience in planning, design, and management of complex projects with an emphasis in planning for higher education. He has worked extensively with colleges and universities, public agencies, and municipalities, nationally and internationally, to involve clients in project process and design to meet their planning and development challenges.
- Since 1988, he has focused his practice solely on higher education planning, addressing the specific and unique needs of each institution with which he works. His technical and creative expertise is delivered in total collaboration with the client, acting as an extension of institutional planning staff, and in the context of outreach to and communication with campus and community stakeholders.
- He has authored over 30 long-range and master plans for colleges and universities in the United States and internationally. Robert has taught Urban Design at the University of Wisconsin and Campus Planning at Cornell University, as well as delivered numerous presentations and workshops for various planning and design professional organizations and conferences.
- Robert's interest in urban and natural resource planning is represented by his leadership in projects such as the Playa Vista Mixed Use Development, Design Studies and Neighborhood Plans in Los Angeles; the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim Village Master Plan in Arizona, and the Tallinn Botanic Garden Master Plan for Research Preservation in Tallinn, Estonia.
- Robert was educated at the University of Wisconsin (Ph.D. in Urban Planning), Cornell University (Master of Regional Planning), and the State University of New York (Bachelor of Arts, Landscape Architecture). He is certified with the American Institute of Certified Planners and is a registered Landscape Architect.
