SPEAKER
Patrick Siegman, of Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates. As a principal with Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, a transportation planning firm devoted to the creation of livable communities, Patrick has led the development of innovative transportation plans for numerous universities, cities, downtowns and transit-oriented developments.
- His campus planning work includes transportation plans and studies for Pomona College; Fuller Seminary; California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo; and California State University, San Marcos (currently underway). He also recently served as lead transportation planner on the Occidental College Master Plan team: the resulting plan received the 2007 Merit Award for Excellence in Planning for an Established Campus from the Society for College and University Planning and the American Institute of Architects. With his colleagues Jeffrey Tumlin and Adam Millard-Ball, he is the author of Solving Campus Parking Shortages: New Solutions for an Old Problem (published in Planning for Higher Education, Society of College and University Planning).
- Patrick's work is characterized by careful cost/benefit analysis, and recognition that transportation plans must support wider community goals, rather than seeing transportation as an end in itself. In addition to his work as a practitioner, he has also taught the American Institute of Certified Planners' short courses on parking management.
